THE TRUTH ABOUT OVARIAN CANCER

The statistics on ovarian cancer are staggering. Every 45 minutes a woman in the U.S. dies from the disease. Ovarian cancer is 90% curable if caught in stages I or II. However, fewer than 20% of the cases are caught in the early stages. It is deadlier than all gynecologic cancers combined!

Statistics prove that although more women are diagnosed with breast cancer, the majority-over 80%-will survive. In contrast, over 80% of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are diagnosed in the late stages with a survival rate of less than 25%. In actuality, to be diagnosed with either one of these two diseases puts you at greater risk for the other. The majority of women are still not aware that a Pap test DOES NOT diagnose ovarian cancer. There still is NO test for early detection of ovarian cancer and the symptoms often mimic gastrointestinal problems.

We are pleased to announce that the proceeds from this years tournament will go to a local South Jersey Group called "Teal Talk on Tour 2010". This group, chaired by CBS 3 Anchorwoman, Pat Ciarrocchi, is based here in South Jersey so we are pleased that the proceeds of the tournament will be staying here in our community.

The mission of "Teal Talk on Tour 2010" is to educate the people in Southern New Jersey about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. The venues for these forums will take place at various locations throughout Southern New Jersey and we are in discussion about holding some of these forums right here in our home towns.
