TOURNAMENT RULES
The Ball
Only official baseball size wiffle balls (8 slots on one side) will be used.
Any ball with a crack more than ¼ inch is illegal. Only tournament supplied ball will be used.
The Bat:
Only official yellow wiffle bats. Only tournament supplied bats will be used.
Pitching:
Pitching speed limit is 35 mph. Pitchers are encouraged to throw a high percentage of strikes and refrain from attempting to strike batters out with fast balls. If a batter thinks a pitcher is throwing the ball too fast he or she should ask the pitcher to throw the ball slower. If the batter is not satisfied he or she will ask the umpire to provide a radar gun. Any ball over 35 mph will be consider a ball. If the pitcher throws more than one ball over 35 mph the player may not pitch any more during that game plus the next game. The mound is 41ft from the strike zone.
Balls & Strikes:
Will be determined by the hole in the back stop. A pitch going through the hole without being swung at is an out. If the ball doesn't go through the hole and is not swung at, it is a ball. A foul ball with two strikes that goes through the strike zone is an out. If a batter catches or attempts to catch and makes contact with the pitch, that pitch will be considered a strike. A pitch that hits the batter is a ball, as long as the batter does not lean into the pitch. If a batter intentionally moves into the path of the pitch in an attempt to block the pitch from going through the strike zone, the pitch will be ruled a strike. The official count will be 4 balls and 3 strikes. All game balls must be left on the field at the end of the game for the next two teams to use.
Regulation Game: 3 outs per inning. Games will be 3 innings with a 10-run mercy run after 2 inning.
Time Limit: 35 minutes per game. If tied after 35 minutes, complete current inning. If game is still tied then proceed with extra inning rules.
Extra innings: In the 4th inning any ball hit into fair territory before the 3rd out will be considered a run.
General rules: All teams are guaranteed at least 3 games. Teams consist of a minimum of 3 players. Only 3 players in the field, batting order will remain the same throughout the game. No bunting, no cleats, no running the bases. If you use a player that is not on your roster, your team will be disqualified from the tournament.
Hits: Any fair ball that goes beyond the single's line is a single. Past the double's line on the fly is a double. Off the fence on the fly without going over will be a triple. Over the fence on the fly is a home run. A ground ball that rolls past the fair play line (15 ft. from the plate) must be fielded cleanly by the pitcher to be considered an out. If the ball is not caught or rolls dead before being picked up it will count as a single.
Dropped fly balls:
Same as above. (Example) a fly ball that is touched and hits the wall will be a triple.
Double plays:
Only can happen with runner(s) on 1st, 1st & 2nd, 1st & 3rd or bases loaded. A player fielding the ball has 3 seconds and one step to throw the ball from the spot it is fielded through the strike zone to complete a double play. If successful, the lead runner is out as well as the runner going to first. Runners do not advance on missed attempt.
Coin toss:
Will decide who are the home team and the visiting team. In the Championship game if a team is undefeated they will be home.
Conduct:
Throwing a bat or intentionally hitting a strike zone with a bat will result in ejection from the game and suspension for 1 game. Unruly conduct will not be tolerated. Penalties include but are not limited to:
1. Ejection from the game.
2. Forfeit of the game.
3. Ejection from the tournament.
